Mexico is a place where you can do more or less everything and for this reason it is one of my favourite countries. I have always wanted to write a bit more about it and I thought I would take this chance to do so. Here are some of the many things that you can do, the list is by no means exhaustive, but these are definitely some of my favourite things to do.
Hit the beach
There is nothing quite like sitting on the Caribbean Sea of the Gulf of Mexico and enjoying the amazing white sands, supreme weather and turquoise waters are all elements that make up the perfect beach. If you get the chance you should definitely head down to the Riviera Maya on the northern part of the Yucatan Peninsula, this definitely has to be one of the places for beaches and the Riviera Maya vacation rentals are also one of the best ways to experience history, beaches, great weather, nightlife and so much more. There is nothing quite like waking up on the beaching and heading out for a swim before breakfast. Aside from this there are so many other places to head, such as Cancun, Acapulco and many more.
Mexico is well known for its huge number of archaeological sites thanks to the Aztecs and Mayans. Tulum is one great example of an ancient Mayan city with a fortress that lies on top of a cliff. There is naturally a stunning beach underneath and it is one of the best places to enjoy relaxation and history in one place. Imagine exploring ancient ruins all day and then swimming after you are finished (or the other way around, depending on what you fancy). Can you imagine a place that exists like this anywhere else on the entire planet?
This beautiful island is located just off the Yucatan Peninsula and is one of the best places that I have ever experienced for swimming, diving and snorkelling. Thanks to the 20 kilometre long Mesoamerican reef you can see the beautiful tropical fish, colourful coral and so much other wildlife. If you don’t already have your diver’s licence and plan to visit, this may be the perfect time to get it. The island is also worth a visit for the crystal clear and warm waters alone, so if diving is not your thing you can still visit and have a great time.
